Easy-going and long throwing!

It is Knut K. Dørum from Oppdal who expresses himself this way about the 2007 mill he has, the latest from Dalen . As early as 1978, he bought his first Dalen -mill, a 1278 with two fans, and it's still in use! Since then there have been many millers, he has actually visited the vast majority of Dalen models.

"I was excited when I bought the 2007. Previously I tried a competing mill with 85 cm fan, it became too heavy to pull for the tractor. I feared that the tractor would not cope with the big fan this time too, but it went very well! This mill is brilliantly adapted to my John Deere 6420 which has 110 Hp," says Dørum.

Faithful Dalen customer

He has been a faithful Dalen customer throughout the years, and also has other equipment from the company. Usually he switches the mills after 3 seasons, and it has always been easy to sell Dalen equipment," he points out.

He is in Gjevillvassdalen, which goes into the mountains from Oppdal. Here there is great cabin activity. "In the past I worked a part for the municipality, but today the customers are cottage owners. My impression is that there will be more and more snow over the years, and it can be very heavy at times," he says.

"I drive in areas with a high height difference, and that makes the snow extra difficult. At the top there may be freezing temperatures and at the bottom there may be temperatures. Then the snow can easily freeze in the ejection fan, and it can be a challenge.

– Dalen 2007 feeds the snow well into the fan. It goes easy, and it throws the snow far. I am also very pleased with the design of the spout, and am willing to pay more for Norwegian quality," says the satisfied snowfreskunden.

The small details

He was lucky to get his hands on the 2007 when the mill was launched in the autumn of 2010. Lid Jarn's industry ran out of this model as early as mid-September. The model has actually become so popular that the same thing happened this season. Many people will have to wait another year before they get hold of the product.

"An average winter i spend about 500 hours. Therefore, it is important to feel comfortable in the tractor. With heating wires in the back window I have very good visibility, and that is important! At the same time, I can have a lower and more comfortable temperature inside the cabin. It's a very good solution," the farmer says.

"I open closed roads with the 1278-1, while I use the v-mills for the ordinary break. The amount of snow can vary widely in this area. Normally it can be about a meter, but it usually comes over time and through many snowfalls.

Speed-wise, he drives about 15 km/h. He has stepless gear on the tractor, and defines only the lower limit of the speed – and then it's just driving. If the amount of snow varies, the tractor shifts itself. "It's like driving an automatic transmission. It's incredibly comfortable," concludes the enthusiastic farmer with a smile.
